
What is a personal chef?
At Delicious by Nature, we define a personal chef as someone who cooks at your house 1 or 2 times weekly to provide ready-made, healthy, and nutritious meals for you and your family. Unlike a private chef who cooks exclusively for one family, having a personal chef is a more affordable and flexible option for individuals and families that want healthy food but don’t always have set schedules or a daily need for just cooked food. Once the chef is done cooking in your kitchen, she will clean everything up, package your food, and provide instructions on how to heat and eat the food when you’re ready.
Why should I hire Delicious by Nature to be my personal chef?
Delicious by Nature is a different type of personal chef service because it is focused specifically on cooking food that is healthy, healing, and delicious. We know that these words can sometimes seem like an oxymoron, but we assure you that this doesn’t have to be the case! Delicious by Nature strikes a healthy balance between foods that are good for you and those that taste good. On top of that, our chef is also trained in therapeutic foods and diets.
I have a specific health concern / dietary need. Can you help me to address that?
Food is powerful and at Delicious by Nature we believe that it really can help heal what ails you. We are happy to work with your doctor or nutritionist to learn more about your recommended diet and plan your menus accordingly. Thanks to her education at Bauman College, our chef, Amy Vig, is also trained in the health properties of specific ingredients and would be happy to discuss some that may be helpful to your specific conditions. Most importantly she is already trained to cook delicious, healthy foods that comply with many types of diets including: gluten free, casein free, high fiber, nutrient dense.
How much does having a personal chef cost?
We know that everyone has unique tastes and needs when it comes to food. In order to best be able to meet your individual preferences, needs, and budget, we don’t charge flat rates for dishes , but rather give you full control of your meals, ingredients, and costs by charging you for groceries plus the chef’s time. Therefore, you aren’t locked in to having a certain amount of food each week and if needed you can adjust your costs by controlling your entrees.
Weekly Total Cost = Cost of Food +(Chef’s Hours x $50/hour)
The number of preparation hours may vary week by week depending on the complexity and volume of the dishes, but usually will usually be somewhere in the range of 5-7 hours.
When will you come to my house?
This is up to you and depends on your schedule. Many people prefer to have the chef come and cook in the middle of the day on weekdays so that there is no interference with the chef’s time in the kitchen. However, if something different works best for you we are willing to try and work around your schedule.
What are some examples of what you might make?
We’re glad you asked! Before cooking for our clients, we do an in-depth interview to understand their unique tastes, preferences, and needs. We then tailor each menu based on that information. If you’re interested in some sample menus, please feel free to contact us.
